Music I'm diggin'. I'm just thinking out loud.
“Haters gon’ hate, players gon’ play. Live your life man. Good luck.”
I’m having a very hard time finding the right words to describe this performance. The one that is swimming around in my head is a played out adjective that almost every millennial is using, but I’ll say it anyway. This is lit…like straight fire.
I’ve been a fan of BTS for years now, long before they found the success that they have today and I’m so happy to see that they’re only getting better. While BTS has been playing around with a different sound lately, showcasing more melody-driven tunes, it’s always nice to see them go back to their roots.
“Mic Drop” is one of my favorite songs off of BTS’ new mini-album, ‘Love Yourself Her’. You can practically visualize their energy just by listening to the track, but seeing a live stage takes it to a whole other level. I mean you can’t tell me these boys didn’t dance their asses off for this stage. I’ve literally lost count of how many times I’ve seen this video. I’m also very happy to see J-Hope (he’s the center at the start of the song) get so much shine, silly braids and all. This style of dance is very much in his wheelhouse and that’s apparent throughout the whole video.
Although I love BTS, I will admit that I wasn’t blown away by their previous album. That’s not to say it wasn’t great, it just wasn’t my favorite. But with this album it’s a different story, when each track is better than the last. Aside from “Mic Drop”, I’m also loving “dimple”, “Go Go” and their title track “DNA”. If you haven’t already, check them out on iTunes or Spotify.
So hats off to BTS. They stay producing hits and performing the hell out of ’em. I hope to see “Mic Drop” live one day. Now that would be LIT! <—-there’s that word again…
P.S. This song was inspired by this moment…and now I love it even more.
